About

We built Kept because
promises kept slipping.

Not the meetings themselves; those are easy to record. What slips is what a project agreed three weeks ago, and how quietly it stopped being true.

The problem

Notes don’t keep promises.

Every meeting tool will hand you a transcript. Almost none of them will tell you that the number in today’s call is not the number in the sheet you are about to send, because that means reading this call against all the others. That is exactly the work nobody has time for.

Kept does that reading, then follows through. It is the only reason the product exists, and everything else it does (recording, notes, tasks, dictation) is in service of keeping what was agreed.

One watchout opened out: what was said in this meeting, and the line from the project's history it does not match
What we believe

Three things we
will not trade away.

Private by design

The interesting version of this product is the one that does not need to upload your calls. We built that one first.

Show the evidence

Kept never just asserts. Every watchout, decision and answer comes with the line and the timestamp behind it.

Quiet until it matters

Software that interrupts constantly gets ignored. Kept stays out of the way until it has something worth saying.

How we got here

A short history
of a long list.

  • Early 2025
    A spreadsheet of contradictions

We started keeping a list of the times a project went wrong because two calls disagreed and nobody noticed. It got long enough to be a product.

  • Late 2025
    The first watchout

The prototype read one call against a folder of earlier ones and found a seat count that had quietly moved from 250 to 400. That was the day it stopped being a note-taker.

  • Early 2026
    On-device dictation

Recording is only half of the time spent typing things people said. The hotkey came next, and it runs locally because the alternative was unacceptable to the people we most wanted to use it.

  • Oct 2026
    Kept becomes Kept

The job was never taking notes. It was keeping what was agreed, so we renamed the product to say so.

  • Now
    Private beta

Kept is in the hands of a few hundred people who spend their week on calls. The roadmap is mostly their list, in their order.

Come and break it
for us.

The beta is open and the feedback loop is short. If Kept misses something on your calls, we want to know which call.
